I wish I had a way to present myself to others as a truly nice person (which I probably am) rather than to scare others off by my abstract and unfamiliar presentation to the world ...

To me, the question is: Does the organization simply attract those who were predisposed to suffer from depression and addiction in any circumstance. That might skew the stats ...

The desperation of JWs hoping the end comes "soon"
by sir82 ini'm starting to sense a certain desperation among jws, that they feel that the great tribulation must start soon.
i think this is due, in many cases, to their own personal situation, financial or otherwise.. if the gt doesn't come soon, and these guys really start to suffer - what then?
the watchtower's promises that "jehovah would not forsake them if they put kingdom interests first" by skipping or dropping out of college, turning down promotions, "simplifying" their lives by selling their homes and moving to the hinterlands...will all prove to be meaningless.. if the gt doesn't come soon, and "jehovah" doesn't bail them out...then what?.

With their record of urgency combined with serving dates rather than humanity, the WBTS has climbed a hill and dug their own hole for their grave. They have few back doors left to escape from. Sad ...

Need help with the whole road rage/anger thing. Is this a sign of a deeper problem?
by easyreader1970 ini have a problem.
i don't like being deliberately cut off in traffic as though the person has a right to impede my progress because of his or her whim.
further, when someone forces me over or out of the way, i feel as though i am having my manhood stripped away and that i am wimping out.

A shot in the dark:
It could be as simple as that you have an inner resentment for having to live your life by everyone elses rules and you get angry when others appear to get away with ignoring common decency and courtesy. Yet, as another put it, the offenders are probably not erring on purpose. Perhaps you have a hint of perfectionism that wants a better world. A question is: How will you feel when you cut someone off or just plain screw up? Will you curse yourself or plea extenuating circumstances? Another guess: someone else probably taught you to look at mistakes as you do.

Would you like to be a member of the "Governing Body"?
by The Berean inoh, the good life ... at what cost?.
imagine for a moment that you could attain a position of adoration from seven million people.imagine that all of your everyday needs were supplied for you simply for talking about a pie-in-the-the-sky vision.imagine having millions of slaves who regularly sent you endless amounts of hard-earned money to fund such a "delusion"suppose you could write, change, and exempt yourself from the rules that an entire sub-culture lived by.imagine a free legal team at your disposal to justify, protect, and defend your every action.imagine that your entire environment waited with baited breath for your next statement, wrote it down, and took it as gospel.suppose you were led to believe you were closer to god than most everyone and that you were one who had the power to alter the course of history..consider having a staff of "front people" who would not only protect your access but would take responsibility for anything that might reflect badly on you.think of what it would be like if others believed that you should be treated the same as jesus.and yet, this is the world for those within the walls of the watchtower boardroom.. while members of the governing body of jehovah's witnesses are the focus of doubt and condemnation by former members, one has to wonder how many critics might "sell out," compromise, and accept the position as god's supposed mediator to enjoy the benefits of playing the game, even to the detriment of millions of suporters who seem to relish their servitude.. perhaps i am weak, evil, and selfish, but with a life of obscurity i would have probably thought long and hard about refusing such an anointing from people who were already bent on worshipping someone.
would you?.
